Since inception of C. Bassett Fine Art Services, its founder Catherine Bassett has focused on providing well-researched and thorough fine art appraisal reports in a timely manner.
Growing up around art in Austin, Texas, Catherine Bassett gained a sense of the local art market and the associated values. She then went on to get her undergraduate degree in Art History and Corporate Strategy from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Upon graduation, she moved to New York City where she attended Sotheby's Institute of Art and received a masters in Art Business. While studying in New York, Catherine began working at AXA Art Insurance, the number one global insurance company specializing in fine art insurance for corporations, museums and other cultural institutions, galleries, and individuals. Through Catherine's studies and work with AXA Art, she came in contact with a wide breadth of art objects, gained insight into the art market at large, and honed the necessary investigative skills for fine art appraisal and consulting work.
Catherine holds a property and casualty insurance broker license in Texas. Additionally, all appraisals are completed in compliance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) guidelines authorized by Congress, and all appraisal reports adhere to the ethical guidelines of professional appraisal organizations and USPAP.
